" Be a Risk Watcher" Safety

Objective
- The kindergarten students will participate in a project with their third grade
buddies.
- Each third grader
will pair up with a kindergarten student and will assist the kindergarten
student in writing and drawing a picture of a safety message. When
completed, each of the illustrations will be put together to create
a class safety book!
Core Subject Integration
- Language arts, art, health and safety
Materials
- plain white paper (for drawing)
- markers, crayons, colored pencils
- pens, pencils
- lined paper
Procedure
- Invite a third grade class to come to your kindergarten class.
- Pair each of your students with a third grader.
- Create 25 safety messages and put them in a bag or hat. Have each pair of
students randomly pick a safety message out of the bag or hat.
- Have each pair of students create a picture illustrating their safety message.
On a separate sheet of lined paper, the third grade student will write the safety
message on the top, and their names on the bottom.
- Collect all the safety messages and create a class safety book.
